The exhibition will open to the public on 1 May at the House of Music Hungary — a truly unique venue located in Budapest’s beautiful central park. We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience this special exhibition in such an inspiring setting.
You can secure your ticket and reserve your time slot for Freddie – The Exhibition on this website:
https://ligetplusz.hu/freddie, starting on 1 May.
For now, only time slots for May, June, and July are open for booking. Time slots for later months will open later. The exhibition will be on display at the House of Music Hungary for a whole year.
Budapest was chosen as the host city for the exhibition because the House of Music Hungary, where the exhibition takes place, offers a unique immersive concept that fits perfectly with our multi-sensory vision for the exhibition. The opening in 2026 is also meaningful because it marks an important anniversary of Queen Budapest concert 1986 — Queen’s famous concert in Budapest, which was the band’s only performance behind the Iron Curtain. For us, this moment carries a powerful message: music can bring people together, even in a divided world. It is a message that is still important today.
Tickets are currently processed in Hungarian forints (HUF) because the ticketing system is based in Hungary. However, most international debit and credit cards will automatically convert the payment from your local currency into forints at your bank’s exchange rate.
You can change the language of the website by selecting the English option in the language menu, usually located at the top of the page. If the site still appears in Hungarian, try refreshing the page or using your browser’s translation feature.
Buying tickets in advance is recommended, as the exhibitionuses timed entry slots and capacity is limited. Reserving your ticket ahead of time guarantees your preferred date and time. If tickets are still available, it may also be possible to purchase them on-site, but advance booking is the safest option.
For now, we cannot promise anything beyond Budapest, as many aspects of the exhibition’s future plans are still being developed. However, we will keep everyone updated through the official World of Freddie social media channels and will announce more details as soon as they are finalised and known to us as well.
Visitors can explore a multi-sensory exhibition dedicated to the life and legacy of Freddie Mercury. The experience is divided into different stages of Freddie’s life, both on stage and off stage, allowing visitors to discover different sides of hispersonality, creativity, and career.
Through personal stories, rare objects, photographs, and multimedia elements, the exhibition offers a closer look at Freddie not only as a global music icon but also as a person. Many of the items were acquired at the Freddie Mercury Sotheby’s Auction 2023, while many others are generously loaned by private collectors.
The English audio guide is narrated by Peter Freestone, Freddie’s personal assistant and close friend, who shares insights and stories connected to the objects and moments presented in the exhibition.
